Anctil v. R

The Court of Quebec finds that the obligation on the petitioner to comply with the Sex Offender Information Registration Act for life constitutes a sentence and that the retrospective application of s. 490.012(1) of the Criminal Code violates s. 11(i) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; the provision is declared inapplicable to him in the circumstances.
