More about Translated Judgments and Decisions
The Ministère de la Justice of Quebec and the Société québécoise d’information juridique (SOQUIJ) are pleased to offer unofficial English translations of selected court judgments and administrative tribunal decisions, in collaboration with the Court of Appeal of Quebec, the Superior Court of Quebec, the Court of Quebec, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Professions Tribunal, the Tribunal administratif du Québec, and the Financial Markets Tribunal. In 2004, SOQUIJ began working with the courts to improve access to justice by making translated judgments available to the public. Since 2018, it has also been responsible for translating judgments at the request of parties.
SOQUIJ has also partnered with the Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund to produce English translations of recent criminal and family law judgments that are of interest across Canada.
Any of these translated judgments or decisions may have been the subject of an appeal or judicial review since they were rendered. Please do further research to make sure that the legal information you have is accurate and up to date.
The judgments and decisions available on this page are all translations from the original French. Sometimes, however, Quebec courts and tribunals write their rulings in English. Judgments and decisions originally in English do not appear on this page, but they can be accessed through a regular search on the main SOQUIJ website using English keywords.
