A police officer who caused the death of a young man by firing twice in his direction is acquitted of two counts of manslaughter; in the circumstances, he used the necessary and proportionate force to protect himself because he could reasonably believe that the victim was charging at him in his vehicle, thereby threatening his life or physical integrity.
