The necessary degree of bilingualism of jurors in a bilingual trial is greater than the rudimentary knowledge of both languages required by the trial judge; the convictions against the appellants on several charges related to the production and trafficking of cannabis are quashed, and a new trial is ordered so that they may stand trial before a judge and jury who speak both official languages of Canada. |
