Groupe TVA inc. did not uphold the confidentiality undertaking its journalist made when it broadcast a report identifying 2 individuals as sources of information; nevertheless, TVA is not ordered to disclose the information of the complete recording of the interview with these individuals to the Sûreté du Québec because the Court is not convinced that the public interest in investigations of and prosecutions for criminal offences prevails over the journalist’s right to confidentiality in the collection and dissemination of information.
